Hi, my name is Esther

How many times can a person try to write a blog before they either do it or stop trying? Maybe that is part of my intpness and could have something to do with why I have so many hobbies now-a-days. Then again, the only reason I can have so many hobbies is because I finally have some peace in my life and the corresponding time to do them.
Currently, the very tall love of my life, Cody, is setting up tablets for work and I was trying to decide what pattern to try today, but I somehow wound up on blogger. Shortly after downloading and deleting a very embarrassing old blog I found, Less Stress, More Crafts was born. I really think this might be the one. I have more to talk about now than how edgy and badass I am (was). My crazy days are far behind me now and I am a normal, functioning member of society...whatever that means. I can tell you that I am the luckiest woman in the world to have had this incredible man in my life for the last 3+ years. World, meet Cody!

We met a few months before I turned 27 and its a really cute story that I will share another time. Fast forwarding through any nonsense, I can tell you that I live a happy life in a suburb near Chicago in a beautiful home that Cody and I purchased together a little over a year ago. I work in Ecommerce as a marketplace specialist and have learned fairly quickly that I am pretty good at managing and analyzing data. Again, intpness.
I was insanely lucky and shortly after moving here my paths crossed with an incredible woman named Paige who I like to say is my Il best friend. I've lived in Ohio, Florida, Connecticut, Missouri, New York, Wisconsin, and Illinois, so I have people peppered throughout the country who hold special places in my heart. My three leading ladies are Paige in Illinois, Leigh in Wisconsin, and Alyssa in Ohio. Paige is who I got my motorcycle license with almost two years ago now. One of the hobbies I will write about is going on random rides with her. Last weekend we took a trip to Michigan and followed the road by Lake Michigan and wound up having a picnic on a boardwalk and dipping our toes in the sand in the beach. It was magnificent.

Those are probably the two people I will talk about most and now that you've had a chance to meet them, lets move on to the fun stuff- crafts!

Sewing is the best. I don't even remember why I started it a year and a half ago. I just know that I got it in my head that I could do it, so I did it. Turns out, it is an incredibly tactile hobby that really helps me improve my spatial reasoning because it is akin to a giant 3d puzzle that rewards you with a useful prize- clothes! For someone with hourglass measurements and giant boobs, finding RTW clothes is just not very fun. Choosing fabric, finding a pattern or designing one from imagination, and then putting it all together with a sewing machine is endlessly satisfying and at the same time challenging.

This afternoon I am sewing a pattern from Sinclair patterns called the Laura. I've never tried it but I think I have some fabric that will be perfect. I'll be back with pictures and a breakdown of the pattern soon. Thanks for reading- hopefully this blog sticks.
